Dear Cub Scout leader:
You may wonder how PacksOnline came to be. (Or you may just be wondering why it took so long for somebody to do this.)
Several years ago a parent created a Web site for his son's Cub Scout pack in Bon Air, Virginia. Having some professional Web experience, he was able to create a site that was reasonably functional and attractive.
Within two weeks of launching that site he received an E-mail from a Scout dad in Missouri who had stumbled upon the new site. The Missouri dad had no Web experience and had been struggling to create a site for his son's pack for months. He was starting to get embarrassed with each passing month and the commitment he had made to the pack was weighing heavily on him.
The two dads put their heads together and soon had replicated the Virginia web site for the Missouri pack, at which point the site creator had a Eureka! moment. There had to be a better way than every single pack trying to invent the wheel on their own. He approached Virginia ad agency RightMinds about partnering on the development of a tool that ANY Cub Scout pack could use to create its own site.
We knew that a Cub Scout Web site builder had to be inexpensive, so we optimized the cost and threw in premium Web hosting at no additional charge. We knew that the Web site builder would need to meet the standards for safe Web sites established by the National Council of Boys Scouts of America Ð and it does. We knew that each site should be able to be customized to reflect the personality of each pack, so we built that in. Most importantly, it had to be easy for parents and volunteers with NO Web experience to create and maintain a great site. And it is!
The result is PacksOnline. Take the online tour and see for yourself.
Welcome to PacksOnline. Now you can create and maintain a great Web site for your son's pack. And become a hero in the process.
